Plants of the Month
June

Enjoy!
Peonies
Peonies are the most glamorous of perennials with big, beautiful, often scented flowers that are good for cutting. They are in the their full glory in June but generally don't flower the first year they are planted.
Peonies thrive in full sun and fertile soil. They are fully hardy so don't need any winter protection.

Harvest
Strawberries
June is strawberry month.
Few things signal midsummer’s day more perfectly than a bowl of strawberries and cream. Check plants daily so you can pick the berries when they are perfectly ripe and at their sweetest and juiciest. June-bearers have the largest fruit but only produce one big crop over a week or two.

Plant
Sunflowers
It's not too late to grow sunflowers, and this is a great plant to get the kids involved with. They grow fast, can grow very tall and will attract wildlife to your garden. Very tall varieties may need the support of a garden cane – especially when growing in an exposed position.
